Apple and bread pudding

Marie Mustard, Scottish Women's Rural Institute

Ingredients:

  • Leftover bread (spread with butter)
  • Leftover stewed apples
  • Sultanas
  • Brown sugar (to taste)
  • Cinnamon (optional)

 
Method:

  1. Line the bottom of a greased pie dish with a layer of buttered thinly sliced leftover bread.
  2. Spread a layer of leftover stewed apples over the bread.
  3. Sprinkle sultanas, brown sugar and cinnamon over the apples.
  4. Repeat this process until the dish is full (finishing with a layer of bread)
  5. Place a few small pieces of butter on top and bake in a moderate oven for about an hour.
