Pork with apples & real ale

Ingredients: serves 4


Method:

  1. Heat oil in pan and sauté onion.
  2. Add pork and sear for a couple of minutes.
  3. Add about half the ale and allow to reduce as it simmers.
  4. Add apples, sugar, and cook until tender for approx 15 minutes adding more ale as required, you may not need it all.
  5. Add a teaspoon of cornflour dissolved in ale to thickenif required. Bring to the boil once more prior to serving to cook flour.

To serve:

Serve with boiled rice or potatoes.

Recipe tips:

Once cut, apples can discolour if they are left open to the air; to avoid this you can dip them in lemon or pineapple juice.
