| | |  | Fruit smoothies Don’t be scared to experiment with whatever fruit you have leftover. Add your fruit to a blender with a banana. You can add milk or yoghurt if you prefer. |

 | Soup Tinned soup can be made to go further by adding leftover vegetables, cooked rice, potatoes or pasta. | | | |
 | Vegetable stock Make vegetable stock by adding the washed outside leaves and trimmings from vegetables to water with salt and pepper. Bring to the boil and simmer for 30 minutes. |

 | Chicken stock If you are left with a chicken carcass after a roast dinner why not make a stock with it? Simply add water, salt, pepper and onions and bring to the boil and simmer for 4 hours. Stock can form the basis for soups, risottos or any number of dishes.

 | Shepherd's pie Use leftover mince or mince leftover meat from a roast dinner to make shepherd’s pie. | | | |
 | Rissoles Made from mince, breadcrumbs (leftover bread) and onions. | | | |
 | Fish cakes Use leftover mashed potato, fish or a tin of tuna. | | | |
 | Grilled steak sandwiches Use leftover steak and caramelised onions to make some tasty sandwiches. | | | |
 | Salad Chop leftover meat and enjoy with your favourite salad. | | | |

 | Yoghurt Mix leftover plain yoghurt or crème fraîche with fresh or frozen fruit to make a delicious dessert. This can also be frozen. | | | |
 | Egg mayonnaise Chop leftover hardboiled eggs and mix with some mayonnaise and a pinch of salt and pepper. Enjoy with some crusty bread. | | | |
 | Cheese omelette Great if you have some cheese leftover. Beat eggs lightly. Melt butter in an omelette pan, pour in the eggs, stir and mix lightly untill they begin to set. Sprinkle with cheese. As the cheese begins to melt, and before the eggs get brown, flip or turn the omelette over. Continue to cook until the cheese melts. Turn omelette once. The finished omelette will be a nice yellow colour with the cheese melted. Serve immediately. | | | |
| | |  | Crusty bread Leftover crusty bread or rolls that have become a little stale can be freshened by wrapping in foil and placing in a pre-heated oven at 250°C (450°F) for 5-10 minutes. Leave the bread in the foil to cool down and eat it straightaway. | | | |
 | Trifle Cut leftover cake into 1-inch cubes, and layer them with prepared chocolate pudding and fresh strawberries in a large glass bowl. Top with whipped cream. | | | |
 | Bruschetta Leftover bread can be used in the next day or two for things like homemade croutons, gourmet French toast, cheese bread or bruschetta. |
